Five Key Ways to Making your Podcast More Popular

There are so many Podcasts out there today that cover every topic one can possibly conceive. Many figure some of these have been beaten to death and are useless now for most viewers and/or listeners. The problem is not the content as much as it is the person relaying the content. You have to put more into your Podcast if you really want people to enjoy it at all. There are ways to grab your audience and keep them interested in what you have to offer. This includes all topics that seem to be beaten to the ground. A Podcast should give great information and still be short and fun. There is no room for lack of judgment when it comes to producing a Podcast. Either someone other than your mom will like it or it will be you and her. You need to know what you are doing
to make your Podcast a success. Here are some simple keys to remember in Podcasting.

Try not to be too serious or take yourself too seriously. Leave out all the crazy mumbo jumbo and stuff that makes you seem smarter than the world. No one is buying it and you sound silly. You want to sound like you know what you are talking about but remain casual and on the same level as your audience. No one wants to hear anything from a no it all. Have fun; it will show in your Podcast. Be able to laugh at yourself and anything else. If you are having a good time so will your listeners. People know instinctually if you are truly enjoying what you do, so give them something to really enjoy with your Podcast.

Give regular episodes or sequels to your Podcast only if they are of good quality. People would rather wait to hear something good every few months from you then to hear something no so good or terrible every day or week. Remember when you make a Podcast your audience trusts you to give them quality and not waste their time with non-sense. Take time to think about where you are going with a particular series of Podcasts and choose a realistic goal for how often new ones will be available in the future. You do not want to disappoint those who have been waiting for the next episode and bragging about your Podcast with something rushed and not thought out.

Edit your Podcast before you submit it. If you do not have the time or the understanding to edit, then get someone who does. You do not need to include every single second of air space that you recorded. You want to make sure that it runs together smoothly and is compact. There should not be a whole lot of ands, ifs, or buts in this with a million ums. Know what you are going to say before you say it. Read it out loud multiple times before even starting the camera or microphone. You want to know it by heart and feel comfortable talking about it. Do not sound like you are a robot reading from a card. Be enthusiastic and know your stuff.

If you are the type of Podcaster that likes to interview, then do not hog the microphone. Your listeners want to hear your guest not you. This does not mean that the guest should just ramble on and on about nothing of any real value. You should ask engaging and interesting questions and then let your guest respond with out interruption. Try not to over comment between questions and waste airtime. Comments are great, but in all reality it is the guest your listeners and/or viewers want to hear about and from. You want to keep your listeners coming back for more.

Be organized through out your whole Podcast from beginning to end, no rambling. When you make a Podcast it should not be about simply turning on the microphone or camera and just going on and on for hours. There needs to be order and interesting content. You must know what you are saying and trying to get accomplished. There should be no guesswork involved for your viewers. Make sure that you have an agenda ready that is easy and well rehearsed and organized.
